Our first solution to the webs initial discovery problem was to curate websites into directories, with Yahoo being the most successful of the bunch. Yahoo became a crucial driver of the webs first economic model: banner ads. Thus, while Yahoo remains to this day a major Internet company, its failure to keep up with the Internets discovery problem left an opening for a new startup, one that solved discovery for the web in a new way.

It was only a few hours before I started seeing the results show up, and I picked up a trend pretty darn quickly. To be honest, it was a trend that I thought I would see, since I know the power of the long tail. Then as more and more keywords showed up, the trend simply got stronger.
